The Meridian drysuit is without a doubt the best drysuit out there. Although it might be pricey, it will last so long that you would have bought 3 or 4 other suits in that time. Mine is 6 years old had regular weekly use and still DRY and that's what a drysuit is supposed to do. Other suits suffer from either not keeping water out or being made from material that is so water proof you sweat inside and end up wet. The goretex in this suit allows the best balance between breathability and water proofness. The new 2012 suits have address the only recent gripe people had was that they looked a bit dated in style terms , but Kokatat never changed the design because it was perfect. The customer care is amazing and they will take your suit for a service every few years for a small price and it comes back new. the suits are made in the US by people who know they are making a drysuit for paddling. Take care of it and it will be your favorite piece of kit for year and years and years

In 2003 i purchased my first Kokatat gore-tex drysuit and i haven't looked back since. When kayaking in cold weather or with long immersions, i have found the GMER to be the driest, hardest wearing suit on the market. My first suit i used on a regular basis paddling freestyle, creeking and coaching for 5 years before putting it into retirement. The suit is really easy to get into when compared with a suit with a shoulder to shoulder zip. Has a handy pocket on the chest and the incredibly functional relief zip! Admitedly during the end of its life it was getting a bit leaky but that can be expected after 5 years of weekly paddling use, some pinholes will be acquired. The latex seals and zip held up very well with the seals being replaced only once and the zip still working perfectly today. (A silicone spray definitely makes a difference in lengthening the life of your latex seals!) Following this suit i have bought another one at the start of this year, this time with some fancy socks! It has proven its worth again on a three month trip this summer and is going strong into the winter. On the coldest of days i wear the suit with an innercore kokatat thermal and the polartec one piece. This will keep you warm on the coldest of days. From experience I can strongly recommend this suit for winter paddling in Ireland.
